During the summer 2024 Festival season Zenobe used Dumarey Green Power PowerSkid’s to support Massive Attacks ground breaking ACT 1.5 event in Bristol. What made this event ground breaking? It was set to be the lowest carbon show of its size ever staged. 1.5 is in reference to the 1.5-degree temperature change & level of global warming considered unacceptably dangerous.
Alongside the Dumarey Green Power PowerSkid, Zenobe also provided eight fully electric buses to be added to the fleet of shuttle buses transferring concert goers to and from public transport links before and after the event. A typical event stage is powered by large diesel generators that are working away behind the scenes to keep everything going from the lights to the mics. The diesel then emits high levels of CO2 in to the air.
The PowerSkid is a second-life battery energy storage system with a continuous power output of up to 160kW depending on configuration. It is specifically designed for mobile and off-grid applications, such as building sites, festivals, events, filming locations and off-grid electric vehicle charging stations. It is also ideal for grid support, renewable storage and energy trading.
Festival and concert goers will benefit from emission and noise-free electric power on location, ensuring a cleaner and quieter environment.
Whilst our clients benefit additionally, they can schedule generator charging via our smart software, optimising energy use and reducing operational costs. The PowerSkid is available in a versatile stationary version, ideal for permanent grid installations, providing reliable and sustainable energy solutions for a variety of applications.
Each PowerSkid is fitted with second-life battery modules, repurposed from electric trucks and buses, which significantly reduces the embedded CO2 associated with the product. This innovative use of second-life batteries not only extends their lifespan but also contributes to substantial CO2 emission reductions compared to new battery production. By incorporating
these eco-friendly battery modules, the PowerSkid offers a greener alternative for power generation, making it the perfect choice for environmentally conscious users who prioritise sustainability without compromising on performance or reliability.
Steven Meersman, Co-Founder, Zenobē, said: “The UK festival community uses in excess of 12 million litres of diesel annually. We are excited to collaborate with Massive Attack to deliver a truly zero emission live event together. Our Second Life Batteries will provide clean power to on-site equipment. At the same time, our first life batteries will power Roberts Travel and Newport Bus’ vehicles to provide a zero emission way to get to and from the venue, continuing a long-standing partnership we have with the operator. This live music event will set a precedent for more carbon-free shows to take place in the years ahead.”
