• Contract manufacturing arrangement foresees continued production of current components in Mechelen for a limited period
Nazareth-De Pinte, Belgium, April 20, 2026 – Dumarey Group, a family-owned company and leader in the development and production of propulsion systems for vehicles and industrial applications, plans to acquire AUMOVIO’s manufacturing site in Mechelen, Belgium. The agreement between both parties foresees that customer contracts would remain with AUMOVIO, while Dumarey would take over the plant and employees and operate the site. The production of AUMOVIO components is intended to continue in Mechelen for a limited period. During this transition phase, Dumarey Group plans to progressively introduce additional industrial activities and businesses at the site.
The works council of the Mechelen plant has entered the information and consultation phase as required under Belgian law. The potential transaction is subject to this process and to regulatory approvals. Both parties have agreed not to disclose financial details.
AUMOVIO’s Mechelen site was established in 1971 and employs around 300 people. The plant produces solenoid valves, hydraulic and electronic control units, and wheel speed sensors, mainly for the European market.
Dumarey Group has decided to proceed with this acquisition to further strengthen and expand its presence in the European market, enhancing its product portfolio with additional technical competencies. Operating a diversified, multi-industry business model, Dumarey finds a strong strategic fit with the Mechelen site, recognised for its advanced technical expertise, highly skilled workforce and solid quality performance.
The Dumarey Group sees significant long-term potential in this acquisition and looks forward to a close and structured collaboration with the Mechelen team during the transition period. Following completion, the site will operate under full Dumarey Group management.
Guido Dumarey, President and Founder of Dumarey Group, said: “While the automotive industry faces challenges, new business opportunities can be created. The Dumarey Group has extensive experience in repositioning companies. For the Mechelen plant, I plan to build on the manufacturing experience gained in existing market segments, whilst also combining this expertise with other initiatives that the Dumarey Group is pursuing across various sectors. I am also very happy to be active again in Belgium, a country to which I feel a strong connection, both personally and professionally.”
“We are taking another step to implement our strategy whilst ensuring continuity and providing a future perspective for the site and its employees with Dumarey, which has its roots in Belgium and long-standing experience across various industry sectors including Automotive. This makes us confident that it is the right owner to lead this site into the future”, says AUMOVIO CEO Philipp von Hirschheydt.
