By building on Dumarey’s proven hydrogen ICE expertise and proprietary 6.6L V8 platform, engine OEMs can accelerate decarbonisation without redesigning existing engine architecture from scratch – reducing development costs, minimising engineering rework, and enabling faster time-to-market for both single-fuel hydrogen and dual-fuel transition configurations.
The need was to transform an existing internal combustion engine into a hydrogen powered propulsion unit, enabling both single fuel hydrogen operation and dual fuel configurations for different vehicle platforms. This required deep expertise in hydrogen combustion, injection strategies, control system adaptation, safety requirements, and the redesign of key mechanical and electronic subsystems.
Stable and efficient hydrogen engine operation, meeting performance targets:
Dumarey delivers full engineering support for the hydrogen conversion of an internal combustion engine, including propulsion system sizing and definition of hardware safety requirements. We translate customer needs into complete system and subsystem specifications and managed the entire project and supplier chain. Dumarey refines all hydrogen related control and software requirements, support initial calibration and diagnosis, and assist with on vehicle testing to ensure a robust and reliable hydrogen engine solution.
